My Best Friend's Wedding (and DIY Thumbprint Tree Guestbook!)

In June my best friend Sarah tied the knot to the love of her life.

The wedding was spectacular. A whole day full of love and joy, and I got to be a part of it! As the Maid of Honor no less (along with my other bestie Stef)!

Sarah is very special to me. So, for her wedding, I wanted to do something really special for her! I asked what kind of projects she had in mind, and she told me she had been eyeing those Thumbprint Tree guestbooks that are rather trendy right now, but she didn't want the kind that everyone had... so I jumped at the chance to hand paint an original!

As most art pieces go, I started with a blank canvas.

Sketched out a tree based on Sarah's vision...

Went over it with think black paint, added a little shadowing, and colored in a love swing.

Sarah and Kurt print their thumbs on the swing, and then everyone else "leaves" behind a thumbprint and their name along the branches as their guestbook signature.

Here's the finished piece, in Sarah's wedding colors. I think it came out nice and colorful- definitely something they can hang on their wall to remind them of their special day and all the people that love them every time they see it!
