We think Napa. Go big or go home right? We were able to do it up in style thanks to my beautiful sister who allowed us to crash at her house for a few days. And ridiculously cheap cross country red eye flights.
I could not wait to celebrate my best friend's upcoming nuptials! And celebrate we did. But more on that in a moment.
This trip was booked ages ago... the second I stepped foot in the airport, I was on vacation.
This trip was booked ages ago... the second I stepped foot in the airport, I was on vacation.
So we had a little (4 hour) layover in Detroit, and the below picture is how you make that work.
Once we finally arrived, the 8 hour trip and 3 hour time difference had us wiped, so we went to sleep to wake up refreshed and begin our adventure. First stop? Half Moon Bay Marina.
We started by a little lunch at the Half Moon Bay Brewing Co, right on the water.
We enjoyed some delicious freshly caught oysters, which we washed down with delicious ice cold cocktails.
Notice the flashy bling...
The marina is gorgeous...
Almost as gorgeous as my friend here...
And then the real party began. Bachelorette style.
Napa Valley. Wine country.
Pro Tip: Limos are fun in theory, not so fun if you tend to experience motion sickness, especially after a night of drinking and dancing into the wee hours.
But we made it work.
Things perked up significantly once we got to our first stop, Domaine Carneros. Known for their bubbly, the flight we were presented with upon sitting down on their beautiful veranda did not disappoint.
Before we knew it, lunch was upon us, and it was time to carb load. If you want some seriously decadent eats, and might want some really good wine to wash it all down, you need to check out Bistro Don Giovanni in Napa. Many vineyards will provide or sell you food with your tasting, but whether you sit down at a restaurant or scarf down a pizza at the tasting table, make sure you eat...
We all got pappardelle with a different version of cream sauce... one butter with sauteed scallops and shrimp, one pesto and one bolognese. You can't go wrong here people.
Next stop, was Hall Winery in St. Helena. The wine was absolutely incredible, especially if you like deep bold reds. We took a stroll around the gorgeous property as we sipped delicious cabernets and merlots and soaked in the warm almost-Mediterranean like sun.
This vineyard has a really pretty garden that had some cool structures made out living plants that are really fun to walk through.
My stunning sister...
Nothing better than a big hug from your best friend.
The rest of the trip was a blur of more beautiful sights and more wine, which I will share with you all very soon!
